Over night at Tharpu know as a old Magar and Gurung Village, the farmers grow corn, millet rather than rice in the region as the climate is not warm enough and tresses are not big to hold the water for rice field but they try to grow rice at least in their few tresses for the festivals. In the past, the rice food used to eat only in the festivals in the mountains as they did not have money to buy rice from the lowland or India.
